Winter Park, FL – Lucia, Kassik & Monday, Inc. announced today they provided the residential design for three First Place Award winners and one Grand Award. The Home Builders Association Metro Orlando presented the competition for Whole House Remodel design in the 52nd Annual 2005 Parade of Homes. The two-week event culminated last night, June 7, 2005, with a gala awards ceremony at the Home Builders Association Metro Orlando, near downtown Maitland, Florida. The annual event recognizes the highest quality achievements in the local home building industry, featuring homes in Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Northeast Polk County. The 2005 Parade of Homes awards recognize excellence in a variety of categories. A panel of building industry peers judged each home entered in the competition. The judges visited each home, completing a comprehensive score sheet on site. The Remodelors Showcase runs one weekend during the middle of the two-week event. The First Place Award winning home for the Whole House Remodel up to $499,999 category was located near Lake Underhill in Downtown Orlando. The existing structure, built in 1956, was constructed with concrete block on slab with a low pitch gravel roof. In the remodeled home, builders Farina & Sons, Inc. added square footage for a home office/additional bedroom. The existing carport was converted to a 2-car garage, laundry room and pantry. Also included in the design was a new roof system, upgrade to premium windows and a spacious courtyard. The transformation produced a beautiful Craftsman bungalow, an architectural style home complementing the character of the downtown neighborhood. The First Place Award for the Whole House Remodel $500,000 - $999,999 category was received for the collaborative effort between the homeowner, Lucia, Kassik & Monday, Inc., Farina & Sons and R. Josef Stevens Interiors. The project took a simple ranch house and created a stunning home that showcases lovely Lake Silver. Rustic elegance is achieved through vaulted ceilings, open spaces and many custom details. The great room has tongue-and-groove ceiling and oak floors. The kitchen boasts granite countertops and maple cabinets. The master suite has a sauna and a large, custom, walk-in closet. A complete in-law suite with a private entrance was incorporated into the design with new hardscaping and lush vegetation. The Grand Award is presented to the best of all First Place Award winners. Two First Place Awards and the Grand Award recognize the collaborative effort between the homeowners, Lucia, Kassik & Monday, Inc. - Residential Designers, and Farina & Sons, Inc.- Custom Builders and Remodelers in Central Florida since 1950. The home receiving the First Place award for the Whole House Remodel $1,000,000 and up category was located in Longwood, Florida near Lake Brantley. The finished architectural style is reminiscent of a country lodge with a great room as the focal point. The great room has 18-foot ceiling, stacked stone/brick fireplace, exposed cypress beams, cast-iron chandeliers and expansive built-in bookcases. The European-inspired kitchen showcases furniture grade cabinetry. The design also includes his-and-her home offices and bathrooms, an exercise area in the master suite and a home theatre.
