Remodling
Q: How do we establish a budget for a project?
A: Often, when I ask my clients what their budget is, they reply, “I
don’t know, because I don’t know what it costs.” Believe
it or not, the issue is not what it costs, but more what you are willing to
pay. We suggest clients look seriously at the value of the existing property,
how long they intend to live there and - regardless of anything else- what
they are willing to spend on the project. Working in reverse order, Lucia,
Kassik & Monday may offer an educated opinion of the scope of work within
the proposed budget.
Q: How do we know if we can afford the proposed remodeling?
A: During the design process, Lucia, Kassik & Monday coordinates with a
builder to generate construction cost estimates. Typically, with the completion
of the 2nd design schematic, the builder can give us the first cost estimate.
Then we have the necessary information to make informed decisions about how
to proceed. This process is repeated as necessary to arrive at a completed
design that meets your financial goal.
Q: How long will the project take to complete?
A: Every project is different in size, style and degree of difficulty. In the
Central Florida market, it is typical that a whole-house renovation will
take at least 10-14 months of construction time.
